GREENSBORO, NC – Rocca's Bakery and Confections is set to open its second brick-and-mortar location at 3720 Battleground Ave, Suite B, Greensboro, NC 27410. Owner Debra LaRocca shared with Business Debut that construction is underway and the bakery is targeting a late October to early November opening. They have closed their Ramseur, NC location in preparation for the Greensboro debut.

The Greensboro location will allow LaRocca to fully showcase her pastry training. With a 2,700-square-foot space, half of which is dedicated to a kitchen, the bakery will bake everything on-site. It is designed for both comfort and convenience, featuring tables, bars for laptop use, and outdoor seating with five tables under a canopy.

Items like Danishes, croissants, cinnamon rolls, sticky buns, honey buns, bagels, blueberry biscuits, Italian pastries, cakes, and pies are on the menu and can be served in slices or whole. Also, seasonal specialties such as tarts will be available throughout the year.

Some fun activities will be offered for guests. There is a secluded area for designing custom cakes, and there is also a viewing area in which you may watch bakers baking and decorating cakes, cupcakes, and breads in front of customers through plexiglass. There is also a full coffee bar to serve frappes, Italian sodas, affogatos, and more.

A Bakery Built on Passion and Promise

Rocca's Bakery and Confections has roots in a deeply personal story. LaRocca, a trained pastry chef with over 25 years of culinary experience, founded the bakery in 2017 to honor her late son, Tyler, who passed away from cancer in 2013. “He made me promise to open a bakery because that was always my love. I liked the culinary side, but my passion was always pastries,” LaRocca said.

Following his passing, she returned to school to earn an advanced degree in pastry arts, turning a promise into a thriving business. In tribute, Rocca's Bakery and Confections offers a 15% discount to first responders.

Opening Hours

Opening hours will be 7 a.m. – 4 or 5 p.m. during weekdays,  8 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Saturdays, and 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. on Sundays initially, with further amendments according to customers' demands.

"People weren't coming in at six o'clock on their way to work. They may come later," said LaRocca. "We’ll tweak hours as needed and stay open later in the summer for those who want to enjoy coffee or pastries outside."
