Spellbound Bookshop Opening in LaGrange This Month

Expect a soft launch on November 21.

LAGRANGE, GA — Spellbound Bookshop, a new independent bookstore from Ruth and Ty Heckendorf, will open with a soft launch on November 21 and a grand opening on Black Friday, November 28, at 37 W Lafayette Sq, LaGrange, GA 30240. We saw the news first from our friends at The City Menus.

What to Expect

The 1,000-square-foot shop will feature all new books across every genre including children’s titles, romance, horror, and general fiction. In addition to books, guests will find a wide selection of gifts and novelty items such as puzzles, stickers, tote bags, mugs, games, annotation kits, and plush toys.

The store will include a comfortable seating area and a children’s play space with a train table. Spellbound Bookshop will also host community events such as children’s story times, book clubs, yoga sessions, and “mommy and me” gatherings. When weather allows, yoga and other events will take place outdoors across from the square.

Vision

Ruth Heckendorf told Business Debut that she and her husband Ty wanted to create “a magical and cozy place that feels welcoming to everyone.” She explained that the name ties into that idea: “Books are bound, and spells are magic, so Spellbound just fit.” Heckendorf said her goal is to make the shop a comfortable “third space” for the LaGrange community. “I hope it’s a safe place to hang out, exchange ideas, and meet new friends,” she told Business Debut.

The store is a true family effort. Ruth runs the business alongside her husband Ty, while their five-year-old son Henry helps choose children’s merchandise. Their one-year-old daughter Trenson, she said, “is helping us baby-proof the store for future one-year-olds.”
