RAEFORD, NC — La Isla Cafe is scheduled to open February 1, 2026, at 504 East Central Avenue, Raeford, NC 28376, owner Edwin Carrillo told Business Debut. Carrillo is opening the Puerto Rican cafe with his daughter, Amaryllis Carrillo, and his wife, Barbara Gotay.
What to Expect
La Isla Cafe is aiming for a family-friendly setting with a “historic” feel inspired by Puerto Rico from the 1950s through the 1970s, Carrillo said. Service is designed to be quick, with a daily menu prepared each morning for lunch.
Menu and Vision
The lunch menu will rotate daily and is expected to include options such as arroz con gandules and lechon, Carrillo said. After opening, the team plans to add breakfast, along with dinner service that may run until 11 p.m. or midnight.
For evenings, Carrillo said the cafe plans to offer more delivery-friendly items such as chicken wings and fries alongside Puerto Rican takeout and delivery.

Carrillo said La Isla Cafe is targeting a February 1, 2026, opening. The space previously operated as an ice cream shop, and Carrillo said renovations were needed to support heavier cooking.

The team is focusing on lunch to start. Carrillo said dinner service is planned, with the goal of staying open until 11 p.m. or midnight. Breakfast is expected to launch shortly after opening.
