ORLANDO, FL — Potbelly Sandwich Works is expanding its presence in Central Florida with two new locations set to open this fall. Franchise partner Chucc Anspach told Business Debut the first shop will open November 18 at 5455 Gateway Village Circle, Unit 100, Orlando, FL 32812, followed by a second location in mid-December at 1003 S. Orlando Avenue, Winter Park, FL 32789.

What to Expect

Potbelly Sandwich Works is a fast-casual sandwich shop known for its warm, made-to-order sandwiches, soups, and salads. Each location features about 55 to 58 seats and a welcoming, high-energy atmosphere. “When customers walk into a Potbelly, they’re getting an experience,” Anspach told Business Debut. “It’s not like walking into a typical sandwich shop—we greet every guest, guide them through the line, and make sure they feel at home.”

The shop’s signature sandwich, The Wreck, layers turkey, ham, roast beef, salami, and cheese, while other options include Italian, Mediterranean, and vegetarian or vegan choices. Potbelly also offers soups, salads, and catering with boxed meals and lunch options that travel well.

The Team

The new locations are owned by Shari Nassir, a longtime Orlando business leader who was inspired by her love of the brand while growing up in Houston. Her husband, Imran Malik, a local attorney and co-owner, supports operations through their family business network. Anspach manages development and training in Central Florida and will lead both openings.

Mike Rivera will serve as general manager for the Gateway Village location, while the Winter Park shop’s management team is still being finalized.

Anspach credited the franchise ownership for its leadership and commitment to bringing Potbelly’s Chicago-born concept to new Florida markets. “They’ve done a great job getting us off the ground,” he said.

Potbelly began as a small Chicago antique shop that started serving sandwiches on a potbelly stove. Today, the concept keeps its neighborhood-shop feel while expanding nationwide. The brand emphasizes a cozy, music-filled environment and what Anspach calls “the Potbelly vibe.”

“We’re a concept sandwich shop,” he said. “We’re all about atmosphere, friendliness, and consistency. Once people try us, they love the food—and they love the vibe.”

Opening Timeline

The Orlando location is targeting a November 18 opening, followed by Winter Park around December 13–14. Additional expansion is being explored in Orange County and surrounding Central Florida communities.

Hours

Open seven days a week from 10 a.m.–10 p.m.
