Pan-African Cuisine Opening on Edgewood Ave in Atlanta

ATLANTA, GA — Ike’s Cafe and Grill is planning a new location at 487 Edgewood Ave SE, Atlanta, GA 30312, targeting an opening before the 2026 World Cup, co-owner Mike Kwarteng told Business Debut.

The Edgewood project is expected to be the brand’s next step after its longtime Norcross restaurant, which Kwarteng said has operated for about 12 years, and their recent opening in Marietta.

What to Expect

The Edgewood Avenue space is planned as a multi-level restaurant, with service across the first and second floors and a rooftop area, Kwarteng told Business Debut.

He said the concept is focused on bringing African food and culture into Atlanta’s urban core. Kwarteng said early plans call for about 27 tables across the first two floors, with additional seating anticipated on the rooftop once the team finalizes the layout.

Menu and Vision

Ike’s Cafe and Grill serves Pan-African cuisine, with dishes representing multiple West African countries, including Ghana, Nigeria, Ivory Coast, Togo and Cameroon, Kwarteng told Business Debut.

“The idea behind the restaurant, basically, is to blend African cultures together all at one table,” he said. “It becomes a lesson of history, education through food.”

While the menu is designed to be primarily authentic to each country’s cuisine, Kwarteng said the Edgewood location may also include a small number of approachable dishes intended to help first-time guests connect with the food.

Opening Timeline

Kwarteng told Business Debut the project has been in progress for about two years and is currently moving through permitting after final drawings were submitted. He said his goal is to open the Edgewood location ahead of the 2026 World Cup, ideally in the week leading up to Atlanta’s last match.
