SAVANNAH, GA — Big Momma’s Kitchen, a new Southern soul food spot from Tiffany & Curtis Smith, is set to open Saturday, Jan. 3, at 1 p.m. at 1915 Montgomery St, Savannah, GA 31401.

What to Expect

Big Momma’s Kitchen is aiming for a takeout-focused operation, with a few tables available inside.

According to their Instagram, the Smiths started building their customer base with pop-up soul food cooked from their garage before establishing their a brick-and-mortar location.

The menu is built around Southern classics including oxtails, smothered turkey wings, fried chicken, mac and cheese, potato salad, sweet potato pie, seafood rice, red rice and barbecue chicken, Smith told Business Debut.

The business is named in honor of their mothers, who they said modeled hospitality and home cooking: Curtis Smith’s mother, Brenda Dilbert Mikell, and Tiffany Smith’s mother, Margaret Sutton. “They would feed anyone who’s hungry… so we want to step into that same zone, to be able to feed and give back,” Smith told Business Debut.

Opening Timeline

Big Momma’s Kitchen is scheduled to open Saturday, Jan. 3, at 1 p.m. The Smiths plan to begin opening at 11 a.m. starting the following week, Smith told Business Debut.

Regular hours are Thursday through Saturday from 11 a.m.—8 p.m., or sold out (whichever comes first). Sunday hours are 2—6 p.m., Smith told Business Debut.
