New Seafood Restaurant Opening in Fuquay-Varina: TrySeafood Grill

FUQUAY-VARINA, NC – TrySeafood Grill, a new full-service seafood restaurant from the team behind TrySeafood Grill in Cary, is planned for 525 E Broad St, Fuquay-Varina, NC 27526. The restaurant will open in the former Aviator Smokehouse space, owner Regina Scott told Business Debut in a phone interview. Scott said she and her husband are expanding after almost five years in business in Cary.

Scott said the Fuquay-Varina location is targeting an opening later this year, with specific dates to be announced.

What to Expect

Scott described TrySeafood Fuquay as an American-style seafood restaurant. “We offer everything from blackened catfish to lobster to sea scallops to your typical Calabash shrimp and fish and chips,” Scott told Business Debut.

She said the concept centers on offering steamed, fried and grilled seafood. Scott said that range is important for guests who prefer grilled or steamed options.

Scott also said the menu accommodates vegans, vegetarians and pescatarians.

Scott said the decision to expand to Fuquay-Varina came after steady support from diners who already make the drive to Cary. She pointed to rapid population and commercial growth as a factor in choosing the Broad Street location.

TrySeafood Fuquay will operate as a full-service, sit-down restaurant with a strong dine-in focus. Scott said the Cary restaurant runs about half dine-in and half takeout. She expects Fuquay-Varina to skew more toward in-person dining.

“In Fuquay-Varina it will be more of a 90-10 split, with dining being 90 percent because it is a full-service restaurant,” Scott told Business Debut. The new space will include a bar program with cocktails and other drinks, she said.
