New Mexican Restaurant Planned in Upcoming Raleigh Shopping Center

RALEIGH, NC — Campo Azul Mexican Cuisine is preparing to open a new full-service restaurant at 7320 Buffaloe Rd #120, Raleigh, NC 27604 in a Publix-anchored development, co-owner Cristina Chavero told Business Debut.

Chavero said the team is waiting on final permitting before construction can begin, and once work starts, they expect to open in about two months, targeting March as a rough estimate.

What to Expect

Chavero said Campo Azul will operate as a full-service restaurant with a full front-of-house and bar team, including a host, servers, food runners and a bartender.

The restaurant is expected to have about 17 bar seats and an estimated 90 to 100 seats overall.

Cristina Chavero said Campo Azul is a family business operated with her husband, Fabian Mendez, and her cousin, Jose Arellano. The group also owns El Salsas Mexican Grill (with locations in Raleigh and Wendell).

Menu and Vision

Chavero said the menu is still in development, but the goal is to offer a mix of Tex-Mex and more traditional items, along with some new dishes. She said guests can expect familiar favorites such as street tacos, birria and esquites-style corn.

Opening Timeline

Chavero said progress has been slowed by permitting timelines, and the team is currently waiting on a final permit approval. Once construction begins, she expects the restaurant could open in about two months, with March as the current target.

Hours

Chavero said the team plans to operate seven days a week. Hours of operation are to be announced.
