Ikara will offer three distinct sections in their restaurant.
ATLANTA, GA — Ikara, a new upscale Indian restaurant is planning to open in the former Allora space at 361 17th St NW, Atlanta, GA 30363. The restaurant is targeting an opening in the third week of February, a representative told Business Debut.
Business Debut first came across the news in a video from Tomorrow's News Today Atlanta.
What to Expect
Ikara is designed as a large, three-part operation with a casual bar area, a fine dining section and an intimate tasting room. The bar area will have seating for about 20, while the overall restaurant will have about 215 seats.
The tasting room will aim to bring a multi-course experience to regional Indian cuisine.
Menu and Vision
The restaurant plans to spotlight regional Indian food with an emphasis on smaller regions that are less commonly represented on typical menus. The tasting room experience is expected to pair courses with Indian-style cocktails, with a beverage program built around herbs and spices and led by Arvind Poojari.
Partner in the business Pooja Aggarwal also owns a restaurant concept in California’s Bay Area and has multiple restaurants in India, including nightclubs and fine dining operations.
Opening Timeline
The restaurant is targeting a third-week-of-February opening. A kitchen team from India is expected to arrive in late January, followed by several weeks of training and tastings ahead of launch.
Hours
Ikara plans to serve lunch and dinner seven days a week. The restaurant is also eyeing a high tea service from 3–5 p.m., with dinner service beginning at 5 p.m.
