New in EAV: Zarate Tiki Co. Opening Soon
The Atlanta-area pop-up is opening its first permanent location.
ATLANTA, GA – Zarate Tiki Co., a Filipino street food and tiki concept from bartender and chef Marcus Fernandez, is building out its first brick-and-mortar location at 493B Flat Shoals Avenue SE, Atlanta, Georgia 30316.
The business began in 2023 as a pop-up and catering operation. Now, they are launching a permanent location in East Atlanta Village.
What to Expect
Fernandez described Zarate Tiki Co. as a neighborhood hangout rooted in his family’s history in the Philippines. The concept grows from a small corner store his grandmother ran on Zarate Street in the Philippines, where he helped open the shop before school and served snacks and drinks.
“This is kind of like a full circle moment,” Fernandez said.
Expect a casual spot where guests can order Filipino street food, tiki-inspired drinks, and desserts in a compact setting. He said he wants the shop to feel like the corner hangout from his memory.
Menu and Vision
Fernandez focuses on Filipino street food classics. Dishes include lumpia and halo-halo and more. Ube ice cream and other sweets also appear in the rotation.
Fernandez said his goal is to contribute to a growing Filipino food presence in Atlanta. “There’s a little bit more of a buzz, so I’m just trying to put my take in it,” he told Business Debut. He noted that seeing students and local Filipino communities rally around the food has reinforced his decision to keep building the brand.
Opening Timeline
The brick-and-mortar location is in progress, with the formal opening date to be announced. Until doors open, Zarate Tiki Co. continues to work events and pop-ups as opportunities arise.
