CHARLOTTE, NC — Sage & Citrus, a grab-and-go wellness concept from Chef Darius Johnson, is targeting an early spring opening at 1801 N Graham St Suite 100, Charlotte, NC 28206. Johnson told Business Debut the business will operate as a 347-square-foot food stall with a fast, kiosk-style ordering setup.

What to Expect

Sage & Citrus is designed for quick service and short ticket times, with an emphasis on meals that fit into a wellness-focused lifestyle. Johnson told Business Debut the operation will be built around an efficient, grab-and-go experience.

The concept draws from Johnson’s background as a 12-year Army veteran and chef who has cooked for professional athletes, including players with the Charlotte Hornets. That experience helped shape a menu built for everyday customers and those in search of pre- or post-workout meal options, he told Business Debut.

Menu offerings will include salad-based bowls with protein-forward options, along with smoothies and lemonades. Johnson told Business Debut guests can expect items such as a Mediterranean chickpea bowl, a fried oyster mushroom sandwich, a short rib dish, and several plant-based options as well.

Johnson described the menu as including "macro counted meals to organic smoothies, even organic lemonades."

Opening Timeline

Johnson told Business Debut he is targeting an early spring opening, with a goal of mid-to-late March. An exact opening date is to be announced.

“It’s definitely a pleasure being here in Charlotte and understanding this market and just looking to improve health and wellness," Johnson said.
