New Cafe Opening Soon in Sarasota

SARASOTA, FL — Coastal Grind Coffee is preparing to open its first brick-and-mortar location in Sarasota in early February at 2661 Mall Drive, Sarasota, FL 34231. Owner Rebecca Drescher, who is opening the café alongside her husband, Robert Foster, told Business Debut the team is targeting the first or second week of the month for its debut.

What to Expect

Coastal Grind Coffee will bring espresso drinks served hot and iced, along with made-to-order crepes, to the Gulf Gate area. The café is designed as a relaxed neighborhood spot with a mix of counter service and table service.

The space will seat about 24 to 26 guests, with a combination of tables, couches and lounge-style seating.

Menu and Vision

The menu at Coastal Grind Coffee will focus on espresso-based drinks served hot or iced, along with a selection of made-to-order crepes offered in both savory and sweet styles. Drescher said a standout savory option will be a shrimp crepe filled with avocado and tomato and finished with a chipotle sauce.

Sweet crepes will include options like Nutella and banana, as well as the Dubai chocolate crepe, which Drescher said is a personal favorite. In addition to coffee and food, the café will also serve mimosas, including mimosa flights.

Service will be a hybrid model, combining counter ordering with table service. Staff will provide table service for mimosas and the café’s slow pour coffee, which is designed as a guided experience prepared tableside.

Slow Pour Coffee Experience

The slow pour coffee will be served tableside and prepared individually for guests. Staff will grind the selected coffee beans at the table before pouring hot water over the grounds and serving the coffee directly. “It doesn’t get fresher than that,” Drescher told Business Debut, describing the process as a full sensory experience rather than a standard pour-over.

Opening Timeline

The team is targeting an opening in the first or second week of February.
