New Breakfast, Brunch and Lunch Spot Coming to Riverview This July
Himes Breakfast House is expanding this summer.

The breakfast, lunch, and brunch brand Himes Breakfast House is opening a new location this summer, owner John Christen shared with Business Debut. The new restaurant is planning to open at: 11220 Sullivan Street, Riverview, FL 33578
Currently, they are wrapping up construction, putting artwork on the walls, and assembling tables and chairs. Their staff, Christen said, are training at the other locations in Tampa and Brandon. The aim is to open in the first week of July.
The new space is approximately 3,000 square feet and will have 110 seats inside. After opening and getting operations running smoothly, they will add outdoor seating on a patio.
Expect meals like egg dishes, benedicts, avocado toasts, yogurt bowls, biscuits, pancakes, French toast, salads, chicken sandwiches, a smash burger, shrimp and grits, and the Jessie’s Grits—named after Jessica Christen, John’s wife.

They will be open six days a week (closed Mondays) from 7 am to 2 pm.
The brand was originally founded in 2021 with the goal of being a family-friendly community restaurant. Christen is a lifelong restaurateur who grew up in the industry—his parents founded Shells Seafood in 1985. The brand took off, expanded aggressively, and even went public. However, during the 2008 crisis, they had to declare bankruptcy. The original location remained family-owned, and John Christen, fresh out of college, decided to take it over. Since then, they’ve expanded their “Florida Seafood Joints” to three total locations.
It was during the pandemic that John and his wife Jessica decided to open a new restaurant concept that would allow them to spend more time with their growing family. The original Himes location opened on South Himes Avenue, hence the name. They then expanded to Brandon in December 2024.
Now, they’re opening in Riverview in July 2025.
