New Barbecue Spot to Fire Up Saturdays in Spindale
Ben’s Smokehouse will open in Spindale this November, serving smoked brisket, pulled pork, ribs, and more.

SPINDALE, NC – A new barbecue spot is firing up in town as Ben’s Smokehouse prepares to open its first brick-and-mortar location at 429 Spindale St, Spindale, NC 28160. The restaurant is owned by Ben and Sophia Edmundson, a husband-and-wife team. Ben confirming with Business Debut that the restaurant is set to launch in November.
Ben’s Smokehouse will be a takeout-only operation, with plans to serve customers every Saturday from 11 a.m. until 4 or 5 p.m. or until the food sells out. The restaurant will operate alongside their catering services.
What’s on the Menu
The menu will feature classic smoked meats, including brisket, pulled pork, pork ribs, beef ribs, smoked turkey, smoked chicken quarters, and wings. On the side, customers can expect traditional barbecue staples, including baked beans, macaroni and cheese, potato salad, and hush puppies.

From Catering to Takeout
The Edmundsons have been running a catering business for the past three years, serving up custom barbecue menus for private events. What started as Ben smoking ribs for friends quickly grew into a full-fledged catering operation, eventually leading to the purchase of the Spindale property two years ago.
“We’ve been catering for a while, and originally we planned to just use the building for that,” Edmundson said. “But we decided, hey, let’s open up on Saturdays as a barbecue restaurant.”
