MRBL BBQ Opening in New Smyrna Beach
Targeting an early April opening, this New Smyrna Beach restaurant will offer takeout barbecue, patio dining, breakfast, and live music.
NEW SMYRNA BEACH, FL – MRBL BBQ, owned by Mike and Rhonda Taylor, is targeting an early April opening at 440 N Dixie Fwy, New Smyrna Beach, FL 32168. The concept marks the couple’s first permanent location after building a following through their food trailer, Mike Taylor told Business Debut.
What to Expect
The restaurant will operate primarily as a takeout-focused concept with an outdoor patio designed for dining and live music. The patio is expected to seat around 50 guests and function as a community-driven venue.
Guests can expect traditional barbecue offerings including pulled pork, ribs, brisket, chicken, and sides like smoked mac and cheese and collard greens. The business will also serve Cajun and regular boiled peanuts, along with beer and wine.
A pig-themed promotion is planned, featuring a “name the pig” contest tied to a custom-painted pig statue, with the winner receiving a free platter.

Menu and Vision
MRBL BBQ will also stand out for its breakfast program, served daily beginning at 7 a.m. Offerings include breakfast burritos, bowls, sandwiches, and a full platter with eggs, bacon, and home fries.
Signature items include large breakfast burritos with smoked meats, a huevos rancheros-style bowl, and a “griddle smasher” with waffles, sausage, egg, and cheese.
“Our pulled pork is a number one fan favorite along with our ribs,” Taylor told Business Debut. He added that the smoked mac and cheese has developed a following, along with a house-made mustard-based barbecue sauce.
The concept reflects a Florida-style approach to barbecue, with a focus on small-batch cooking and wood-fired smokers. “I care about the food… and how I do things with it,” Taylor told Business Debut, emphasizing quality and consistency.
Background
The Taylors launched MRBL BBQ as a trailer operation during COVID, eventually shifting to local events and catering to grow their customer base.
Rhonda Taylor played a key role in encouraging the transition into food service, while Mike Taylor developed the menu after years of cooking experience. The couple credits a mentor named Jerome, who sold them their first trailer and helped guide the early stages of the business to success.
Opening Timeline
The team is targeting an opening in the second week of April, pending final inspections and approvals.
Hours
Planned hours are 7 a.m. - 7 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, with extended hours until 10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays for live music. Breakfast will be served seven days a week starting at 7 a.m.
