Mister O1 Extraordinary Pizza to Open 10th Corporate Location in Coral Gables
Thin-crust pizzas, signature pies, and Italian-inspired dishes will highlight the menu at this concept.
CORAL GABLES, FL – Mister O1 Extraordinary Pizza is targeting a late May opening at 110 Alhambra Circle, Coral Gables, FL 33134. CEO and co-founder Umberto Mascagni told Business Debut the team is aiming for a May 19 or May 26 debut, marking the brand’s 10th corporate store and continuing its expansion across South Florida.
The brand, co-founded by Mascagni and Chef Renato Viola, first launched in 2014 in Miami Beach as a small, unmarked pizzeria. It has since grown to 29 total locations, including both corporate and franchise units, with Coral Gables representing a milestone in its corporate growth strategy, Mascagni told Business Debut.
What to Expect
The Coral Gables location will feature a 3,300-square-foot layout with approximately 60 seats, a small outdoor component, and an open kitchen design that puts the pizza-making process in full view. The restaurant sits on a corner with surrounding residential density and offers easier parking access compared to busier nearby corridors.
Mascagni said the team spent years identifying the right space. “We’ve been looking for a good location for about two or three years… we like to select well our locations,” he told Business Debut, noting the area’s balance of residential and office traffic.
This location is also designed to support delivery operations, particularly to nearby Coconut Grove, where the brand’s existing restaurant is limited by size and demand. “We always give priority to the client dining in… with this location we’ll be able to supply and deliver,” Mascagni told Business Debut.
Menu and Vision
Mister O1 is known for its thin-crust pizzas made with imported Italian flour and dough that undergoes a minimum 72-hour maturation process. Mascagni said consistency across all locations remains a top priority.
Among the standout items is the Star Luca pizza, a star-shaped pie with ricotta-filled points and spicy salami. “It’s a very popular one,” Mascagni told Business Debut.
The menu also leans into creative combinations, including the Coffee Paolo pizza, which features coffee powder as a topping. “We like to be creative and to give something different,” Mascagni told Business Debut, while still offering traditional options.
The brand’s identity is closely tied to Chef Renato Viola, whose culinary background and recognition inspired the name. “The O1 visa is granted… to individuals with extraordinary abilities,” Mascagni said.
Mascagni added that while the brand positions itself as a premium pizzeria, pricing is intentionally kept accessible. “We want families coming multiple times a week,” he told Business Debut.
The concept has also earned recognition from the Michelin Guide in recent years, further elevating its reputation. “It’s a very good achievement for us,” Mascagni told Business Debut.
Growth and Background
Mascagni said the partnership with Viola came together organically, evolving from a customer-chef relationship into a business. Viola brought culinary expertise, while Mascagni contributed a business background developed after moving to the United States to study.
“We kind of complement each other,” Mascagni told Business Debut, describing the collaboration that has driven the brand’s growth over the past 11 years.
Opening Timeline
The team is targeting a late May opening, with a tentative debut on May 19 or May 26.
Hours
The restaurant plans to operate daily from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., with extended hours until around 11 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
