ATLANTA, GA — The Grotto, a new Latin-inspired, open-air concept from Shema Fulton, is targeting an opening within the next 60 days at 381 Marietta St NW, Atlanta, GA 30313.

What to Expect

The Grotto will center on an outdoor patio designed to accommodate up to 100 guests, with a small indoor bar area seating approximately 12.

The space will function primarily as an open-air café and will close during inclement weather. Fulton described the design as a tropical oasis, with stone and concrete elements, exotic woods, and lush greenery.

“The space feels like vacation,” she told Business Debut. “You’re going to forget that you’re in Atlanta.”

Located along the heavily traveled Marietta Street corridor near Centennial Olympic Park, the Georgia Aquarium and multiple hotel developments, Fulton expects the concept to draw both tourists and locals seeking a midday destination.

The Grotto will serve Latin-inspired street tacos, margaritas, and craft cocktails made with fresh ingredients. While tacos will be central to the menu, Fulton said her seafood background will influence offerings such as fish and shrimp tacos.

Craft cocktails are expected to feature ingredients like spicy cucumber, roasted pineapple, and passion fruit. Food will be prepared onsite from a food trailer rather than a traditional kitchen.

Fulton brings 30 years of restaurant experience, including Pearl Restaurant and Lounge in Castleberry Hill, which closed following a fire. She currently operates Baltimore Crab and Seafood in Fairburn, Bella near Camp Creek and Butner Road, and Garden Park, a brunch concept on Cascade Road.

Opening Timeline

The Grotto is awaiting final inspections and liquor licensing approval. Fulton said she is hoping to open within approximately 60 days.

Hours

The Grotto plans to operate Wednesday through Sunday, closing Mondays and Tuesdays. The concept will focus on midday service and close around 10 p.m.
