Miami- Eko Padel and Pickle is targeting a third week of March opening at 11401 N.W. 12th St., #E615, Miami, FL 33172, inside Dolphin Mall in the former CineBistro cinema space, owner Maria Pena told Business Debut. The 20,000-square-foot indoor club has been in development for more than two years.

“We’re opening inside Dolphin Mall, which is one of the most trafficked malls in the U.S.,” Pena told Business Debut. She said the former cinema layout provides the ceiling height required for padel courts, which need approximately 24 feet of clearance.

What to Expect

Eko Padel and Pickle will feature six indoor courts, including three padel courts and three pickleball courts. The facility will also include locker rooms, showers, lounge seating, a retail store and a coffee shop.

Pena described the concept as a modern sports and lifestyle club centered on community. “People are talking about your third space now, the space that is not work, it’s not home,” she told Business Debut. “We’re trying to create this community that will be a third space for people where they can train, have a community, consume at the coffee shop and be a part of an active social community.”

While some existing padel clubs operate as exclusive, members-only facilities, Pena said her concept is intentionally inclusive. “We’re trying to be the opposite. We’re trying to be all inclusive. It doesn’t matter your level, it doesn’t matter your background,” she told Business Debut.

Guests will be able to purchase memberships, pay per visit or buy play packages. The club will also host private events and birthday parties.

The on-site coffee shop will offer empanadas, sandwiches, coffee and a New Zealand style ice cream concept, along with plans to secure a beer and wine license.

Pena, who comes from a tennis background, said her motivation came after attempting to book court time at another padel club and finding it fully reserved. “Even if I wanted to pay and play, I couldn’t,” she told Business Debut. “I saw that there was a demand for it.”

The business is backed by several professional athletes. Former NFL player Trey Boston, who played for the Carolina Panthers, is an investor, Pena said. The club is also backed by Argentine professional basketball player Lucas Faggiano of Boca Juniors and former Real Madrid basketball player Ariel Eslava.

“The potential is huge here in the U.S.,” Pena told Business Debut. She added that the sport has grown rapidly worldwide and continues to gain traction domestically.

Opening Timeline

Pena said the team is targeting a late March opening, pending final approvals. Construction has taken more than two years, in part due to the challenges of finding suitable indoor space with sufficient ceiling height for padel.

Hours

Eko Padel and Pickle plans to operate seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.
