Matjoa House Reopening Soon in North Tampa Area
Opening in the coming weeks, Matjoa will serve all-you-can-eat BBQ and homestyle Korean dishes.

Matjoa House is preparing to re-open in a new location in North Tampa, co-owner Joe Bare shared with Business Debut. The restaurant is planning to debut in the coming weeks at 8568 Gunn Hwy, Odessa, FL 33556. We first read the news in That's So Tampa.
The move follows their original location in Clearwater, which opened in 2020. The new space will have a similar seating capacity of around 140 and will also feature covered patio seating and a more inviting layout.
Expect in-table grills, all-you-can-eat options, fresh scratch-made sides, combination meals, a full bar, and more. The outdoor covered area will include TVs and will be designed in the style of Korean “pocha,” Bare said, referencing traditional Korean street-style dining.
The new menu will include more homestyle Korean dishes.

The concept originates from Bare’s in-laws, Yong Bae and Young Lee—Korean restaurateurs with experience operating restaurants in Korea and several brands in Florida, including One Family and Dooriban, which they’ve since sold.
Bare, formerly a regional manager at Ruth’s Chris, joined forces with his wife Sang Bare and her family to open the original Matjoa, which launched in February 2020—a debut Bare referred to as their "grand opening and grand closing all at once."
Now, the team is getting ready to reopen in North Tampa. Follow the brand on Instagram for updates.
