Bearfoot Tavern, a local pub and gastro bar in Macon, is making a comeback this October at its original location at 468 2nd St, Macon, GA 31201, following a temporary closure due to a roof collapse last July 2024. Owner Kris Ellis told Business Debut that they are currently on the final stage of redesigning the space, including picking furniture and finalizing interior features.

The revamped space will have more seating, an expanded kitchen (twice the current size), and a large dining area “We hope to have more room to engage with our clients and potential patrons,” Ellis said. “It’s going to come back better than it was before.” Ellis didn’t mention the exact seat count for now, but he noted the updated layout will be new and improved while keeping the traditional feel and the DNA of Bearfoot Tavern.

The precise daily hours and opening days have not yet been confirmed. While renovations are undergoing, Bearfoot Tavern still serves their customers through their on-site food truck. Once open, the menu will include the existing customers' favorites, reuben sandwiches, wings, steak and potatoes, and classic burgers, along with new items to be added as per Ellis.

Bearfoot Tavern has been operating since 2016. It's known for its cozy tavern feel, live music, and classic American comfort food. "It's an exciting time, and I'm looking forward to reopening," Ellis said. Since its closing, Ellis and his team have been working hard to rebuild and give the place a fresh start.
