Lume Coffee Co. Will Open Community Café In Smyrna

SMYRNA, GA — Lume Coffee Co. is preparing to open at 2874 King St SE Suite D, Smyrna, GA 30080 with a focus on community, consistency, and quality coffee. Owner Alex Ruppe told Business Debut they are targeting a late January 2026 opening as they await final permits and the arrival of their espresso machine.

What to Expect

The neighborhood shop will feature a streamlined menu centered on classic espresso drinks, including lattes made with house-made syrups, matcha lattes, matcha lemonade, chai lattes, and a variety of hot teas. Lume Coffee Co. will also serve fresh pastries from local bakers with vegan and gluten-free options.

Guests can expect a counter-service format with about 20 seats indoors and a small patio planned for outdoor seating. “We really want to be a part of the Market Village. People can stop in for their favorite drink, work for a bit, or meet a friend,” Ruppe told Business Debut.

Menu and Vision

Lume Coffee Co. will serve as both a coffee bar and a welcoming community space. The Ruppes plan to create a warm, light-filled interior with a banquette and standing tables. Alex Ruppe said the concept grew from a desire to offer a space that feels uplifting and genuine.

“The name ‘Lume’ comes from the idea of brightness,” she told Business Debut. “We want it to be a place where people feel comfortable, creative, and at home—and hopefully a little lighter when they leave.”

Favorites will include caramel lattes, matcha lemonade, and fresh cinnamon rolls. “We both love that gooey, yeast-based cinnamon roll. It’s the perfect breakfast,” Ruppe said.

Community and Coffee Selection

To ensure quality, the couple partnered with Justin Brostek of Storyteller Goods, a Q Grader certified coffee expert, to guide bean selection and menu balance. “We recently did a cupping with Justin to finalize our roaster and coffee lineup,” Ruppe said.

The team is also planning a community mural on the exterior wall to reflect the spirit of downtown Smyrna.

The shop plans to open daily from 6:30 a.m.—4 p.m.
