Lowkey Hideaway and Tiki Bar Being Transformed in Cedar Key
Following Hurricane Helene’s impact, Lowkey Hideaway is transforming with a new bar, liquor store, and expanded community offerings.

Lowkey Hideaway and Tiki Bar is undergoing a transformation following the impacts of recent storms, including Hurricane Helene, which led to the closure of its motel operations. General Manager Laura Gregory shared with Business Debut that the venue is now focusing on creating new spaces for locals and visitors to enjoy.
The former motel rooms are being repurposed into a new indoor/outdoor bar featuring TVs for sports viewing, darts, shuffleboard, pool tables, a touch tunes music player, and other activities. Expect the new bar to be operational in the next month or so.
Additionally, Lowkey is introducing a liquor and convenience store, converting a former owner’s suite into a storefront where guests can purchase packaged alcoholic beverages and grab-and-go snacks. Look out for the storefront to open in the coming months.
These updates aim to bring the Cedar Key community more spaces to unwind and recover after the challenges brought by Hurricane Helene. Lowkey Hideaway has been an active voice in the community, leading charitable efforts such as distributing building supplies, coordinating demolitions, and supporting rebuilding initiatives.
As high season approaches, the venue plans to host comedy shows, airboat tours, music events, and more. Guests can also enjoy comfort bar foods and desserts from the on-site food truck, with plans to add a second truck by year’s end.
