Local Restaurateur Opening a new Thai Concept in Smithfield on Dec. 21

SMITHFIELD, NC — Origin Thai Bar and Cuisine will hold a soft opening Sunday, Dec. 21, at 519 Outlet Center Drive, Smithfield, NC 27577, owner Green Chaikavin told Business Debut. Chaikavin said the soft opening is expected to run for about a week, from Dec. 21 through the following Sunday.

What to Expect

Origin Thai is a full-service restaurant with a full bar and 54 seats, including bar seating. During the soft opening, the restaurant plans to offer a free spring roll appetizer for each table dining in.

Menu and Vision

Chaikavin said the menu will include popular Thai dishes like noodles, stir-fries, and curries, along with more authentic, less common recipes. “All the recipes and ingredients are authentic Thai — [we have a] Thai chef, Thai recipes, and Thai ingredients,” Chaikavin told Business Debut. She said a few items are more fusion-leaning, but the focus is on Thai recipes and flavors.

Opening Timeline

The restaurant is targeting a soft opening Dec. 21, with a one-week soft opening period planned. Chaikavin also owns Gilded Pear Brew House in downtown Smithfield, she told Business Debut.

Hours

Origin Thai plans to be open for lunch and dinner six days a week and closed Tuesdays.
