Local Food Truck Opening Brick and Mortar in Palm Harbor, FL
Lazy Crave started as a food truck serving greater Tampa Bay in 2024.
PALM HARBOR, FL — Lazy Crave, the ice cream and coffee concept known locally for its sloth mascot and laid-back vibe, is preparing to open its first brick-and-mortar location in Palm Harbor.
Owner Tanya Pinette told Business Debut the shop is targeting a mid-February opening at 2706 US-19 ALT, Unit 107, Palm Harbor, FL 34683.
The business began as a food truck in December 2024 and quickly built a following across the Tampa Bay area. The upcoming storefront marks the next step for the brand, while still keeping the original food truck active for events and catering.
What to Expect
Lazy Crave will operate as a casual, counter-service ice cream and coffee shop designed for families. The new location offers a larger footprint than a traditional walk-in ice cream shop, with seating for approximately 20 to 40 guests and plenty of room to linger.
A small play area for toddlers is planned inside, giving parents space to relax while kids stay entertained. “It’s meant to be a lazy, easygoing, fun vibe,” Pinette told Business Debut.
The food truck will continue operating alongside the brick-and-mortar location and will remain available for private parties, school events, corporate gatherings, and catering throughout Pinellas, Hillsborough, and Pasco counties.
Menu and Vision
The expanded menu will include Belgian waffles, New York-style bagels imported from New York, soft-serve ice cream, hand-scooped ice cream, and a full coffee program. Fan favorites from the truck will carry over, including the coffee shake, made with soft-serve ice cream and cold brew coffee instead of milk.
Other popular items include ice cream tacos and ice cream nachos, both made with homemade waffle cone creations and customizable toppings. Ice cream is sourced from local producers, with soft serve coming from St. Petersburg and hand-scooped flavors supplied by a Pasco County creamery.
Flavors rotate seasonally, while staples like cookies and cream and salted caramel brownie remain regular offerings.
The Story Behind the Sloth
The name Lazy Crave grew out of the brand’s playful identity. Pinette said the sloth mascot came naturally, reflecting both the relaxed pace of the experience and her personal love of sloths. The character has become a recognizable part of the business, often drawing people in just to take photos with the truck.
“You can’t hate a sloth,” Pinette told Business Debut, noting that the mascot helps make the brand memorable and approachable for all ages.
