Local Bakery Opening a Restaurant in Downtown Forsyth
Treats with Lenise will open their breakfast and lunch concept in downtown in about a year.
FORSYTH, GA — Treats with Lenise is planning a new bakery, breakfast and lunch concept in downtown Forsyth at 35 W Johnston St, Forsyth, GA 31029. Owner Lenise Leknes told Business Debut the team is targeting an opening about one year from now as the project moves into design and contractor selection.
The business currently operates as a pop-up bakery at 53 N Lee St and is open two days a week, with a heavy focus on custom orders like wedding cakes and baby shower desserts.
Leknes told Business Debut the new location will keep those bakery and custom-order roots while adding a sit-down eatery component.
What to Expect
Treats with Lenise plans to shift from a primarily pop-up and custom-order model into a larger space that supports both bakery service and a breakfast and lunch operation. Leknes told Business Debut the building will be fully gutted while keeping some historical elements.
Menu and Vision
The menu is expected to center on “typical American contemporary breakfast” while adding Latin and French influences, Leknes told Business Debut. She said the team has been workshopping ideas that use existing baking strengths, including croissants and breads.
For lunch, she told Business Debut the plan includes soups, salads and sandwiches, plus items inspired by South Florida’s Latin bakery culture. Potential offerings discussed include tostadas and croquetas, with a Southern spin.
Opening Timeline
The team is targeting an opening about one year from now, with remodeling plans still being finalized and the project in early phases.
Hours
For an initial soft launch, Treats with Lenise plans to be open Wednesday through Saturday, Leknes told Business Debut. The team is considering hours around 7 a.m.-3 p.m., with the option to expand to Tuesday through Saturday as the business grows.
