Local Entrepreneur Opening Three New Concepts In Greenville
Opening February 3, the Greenville rollout begins with an ice cream bar followed by a tacos spot and a cigar lounge.
GREENVILLE, GA — Actor and author Erik Audé is bringing three distinct concepts to downtown Greenville: Aude's Ice Cream Bar, Sophie's Tacos, and Under the Square, a members-only cigar lounge.
He told Business Debut that Aude's Ice Cream Bar and Under the Square will share the former bank building at 137 S Court Square, Greenville, GA 30222. Sophie's Tacos will open two doors down at 133 S Court Square, Greenville, GA 30222.
What to Expect
Aude's Ice Cream Bar will operate inside a historic bank building with original marble teller stations and a large vault that Audé is preserving. He said producers have already shown interest in using the space as a film location and hopes future productions will help drive visitors to the square. The ice cream bar will serve morning coffee, Blue Bell ice cream, parfaits, sandwiches, crumb cakes and other baked items, and milkshakes.
Under the Square will be a speakeasy-style cigar lounge in the basement beneath Aude's Ice Cream Bar. Membership-based and limited to guests 25 and older, it is designed as an intimate, word-of-mouth club with cigars, beer and wine, monthly comedy nights, and occasional acoustic blues and jazz. “I want people to feel like they’ve gone back to the 1920s and they gotta get dressed up,” he told Business Debut.
Sophie's Tacos will be a compact taco sports bar with televisions throughout the space. The focus will be on a straightforward menu featuring chicken, steak, and shrimp street tacos, along with quesadillas, burritos, Mexican sodas, and a selection of beer and wine.
Inside the ice cream bar, Audé will also sell copies of his book, Three Years in Pakistan: The Erik Audé Story, about being imprisoned in Pakistan, spending three years on death row, and learning the law to advocate for his own freedom.
Opening Timeline
Audé is targeting a February 3 grand opening for Aude's Ice Cream Bar. He hopes to open Sophie's Tacos by April, ideally around April 1, depending on how quickly the ice cream bar begins generating revenue. Under the Square is planned for a June opening.
