Kiss My Gritz to Host Grand Opening in Jacksonville November 4th
Southern-inspired restaurant Kiss My Gritz will offer signature grits dishes and weekly events, opening its doors to the public in Jacksonville November 4th.
Kiss My Gritz, a new Southern-inspired restaurant, is set to hold its grand opening on November 4th, following a soft opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony on October 24th. The soft opening will be attended by local leaders, including Councilwoman Ju’Coby Pittman, Councilman Reggie Gaffney Jr, Council President Randy White, and Dr. Izell Kirkpatrick, according to owner Chandra, who goes by "Lady C." Co-owning the business with Lady C is Dr. Archie Harrison Sr. and Charity Oliver, as indicated in paperwork with Sunbiz.
Kiss My Gritz will offer a variety of Southern dishes, including fish on grits, salmon croquettes on grits, pastrami on grits and several others. The menu will feature four types of grits: garlic grits, cheese grits, butter grits and the restaurant’s signature sweet "KMG Grits." A lunch buffet will also be available for guests, Lady C said.
The restaurant will serve as a late-night hangout, offering a nightlife experience that's family-friendly, Lady C said. Kiss My Gritz plans to host weekly events, including Wednesday game nights with cards and board games, Thursday karaoke and Friday open mic sessions. With a capacity of over 200 people, the venue will also be available for event rentals.
In addition to its focus on good food and a welcoming atmosphere, Kiss My Gritz is connected with Breakthrough Center International, a non-profit organization owned and led by Lady C. The center provides job training and placement for those in need, with a focus on the hospitality sector. Through this partnership, the restaurant will help provide employment and job training opportunities for individuals in the community.
