JACKSONVILLE, FL - A new Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream scoop shop is in the works for Jacksonville’s Five Points neighborhood, with a locally owned franchise targeting a spring opening at 1027 Park St, Jacksonville, FL 32204. Owner Justin Renaldo told Business Debut the team is currently awaiting city permits and is aiming to open in late April or early May.

The shop will be operated by Renaldo and his wife, Diana Renaldo, alongside family partners Tanya Garcia and her husband, Orlando Garcia. The group emphasized that while the Ben & Jerry’s name is nationally recognized, this location will be fully family owned and operated by Jacksonville locals.

Business Debut learned about this story first from What Now.

What to Expect

The Five Points location will be a counter-service scoop shop offering a cozy, neighborhood-focused space. The roughly 900-square-foot shop will feature bar-style seating along floor-to-ceiling front windows for people-watching, along with additional seating near a planned mural wall inside.

Guests will order at the counter and choose from a rotating selection of classic and fan-favorite Ben & Jerry’s flavors, served in cups or cones, including waffle and sugar cones.

Renaldo said customers can expect well-known flavors such as Cherry Garcia, Chunky Monkey, Milk & Cookies and other popular offerings, along with dairy-free and plant-based options. The shop will also serve specialty ice cream-based drinks and milkshakes, with room for creative flavor combinations developed by the family.

Additional menu items will include packaged pints for takeaway, custom-packed pints, and ice cream cakes for celebrations. The team also plans to offer catering services for birthdays, corporate events and community gatherings, extending the business beyond the scoop shop walls. “We want this to be a safe, welcoming space for the community,” Renaldo told Business Debut, adding that the family plans to stay hands-on and visible in day-to-day operations.

Family Ownership

This will be the first franchise for Justin and Diana Renaldo, who said community involvement was a key reason they chose the Ben & Jerry’s brand. Renaldo noted that the company encourages local ownership and community engagement, which aligned with the family’s goals.

“It’s just me, my wife and our family running it,” Renaldo told Business Debut. “We want people to know we’re here to be part of the neighborhood and give back.”

Opening Timeline

The team is targeting a spring opening, pending final permit approvals, with an estimated timeframe of late April or early May.

Hours

Planned hours are still being finalized. The shop is currently targeting Tuesday through Sunday operations, with later hours on Fridays and Saturdays. Final hours will be announced closer to opening.
