Ice Cream Food Truck Opening Permanent Location in Kernersville
Blue Skies Creamery is preparing to debut on North Main Street.
KERNERSVILLE, NC — Blue Skies Creamery is preparing to open its first brick-and-mortar location at 116 N Main St, Kernersville, NC 27284. Co-owner Bret Biance told Business Debut the team is targeting an April opening, though May or June could become a reality depending on construction progress.
The shop will occupy Unit 116, with the neighboring Unit 112 planned for a future complementary concept once funding and buildout plans are finalized.
What to Expect
The 116 space is undergoing a full interior restoration. Biance told Business Debut the team is reworking plumbing, electrical and interior concrete to bring the more than 70-year-old building up to North Carolina code requirements.
The layout will feature a large service counter on the left upon entry, along with indoor seating. The design direction is leaning contemporary with modern elements, though Biance said details remain fluid as construction continues.
A key priority is maintaining operational efficiency while preserving customer experience. “Our goal is that when someone orders, by the time they’re done paying, most of their order is already at the window,” Biance told Business Debut.
Menu and Vision
Blue Skies Creamery has operated as a mobile, craft small-batch ice cream business for more than 2.5 years.
The brick-and-mortar will initially focus on its core offerings. Future additions such as cones, toppings, milkshakes and floats are planned but will roll out intentionally. “We want to make sure that we are not trying to get away from what we are excellent at and trying to diversify so much that [we] lose the core of who [we] are,” Biance told Business Debut.
The team has also gathered customer feedback through polls to help guide early menu decisions.
Ownership
Blue Skies Creamery is owned by Bret Biance and his 50/50 partner Allan Hamaoui. The duo launched the concept as a mobile operation and are now transitioning into a permanent downtown presence.
Opening Timeline
Biance told Business Debut April is the ideal opening target. If construction delays arise, the opening could shift to May or June.
