TARBORO, NC – A new potato-focused business is planning to debut in downtown Tarboro. Hot Potatoes, a pop up and caterer that his been serving the area since 2024 is opening a brick at mortar at: 101 E Church St, Tarboro, NC 27886, co-owner Robert McBride told Business Debut.

McBride owns the business with his fiance Jennifer Brown and business partner Genia Llyons.

What to Expect

Hot Potatoes will open in the underground unit directly beneath Tarboro Coffee House along N Main Street. The restaurant will feature indoor seating and will have a bar and lounge area for guests who want to eat in and enjoy a cocktail, glass of wine, or a beer with their meal.

The business will continue to pop up at events and take catering orders while operating the brick and mortar, McBride said.

With a menu centered around potatoes, McBide and the team have primarily feature baked russet and sweet potatoes as a base with numerous toppings. Proteins to be added to your spuds include brisket, pulled pork, chicken, steak, shrimp and salmon. 

McBride shared that they will also expand the menu to include mashed potato bowls, loaded fries, and more. Hot Potatoes will also include vegan and vegetarian dishes and toppings.

Opening Timeline

With the build out fully underway, McBridge estimates that they will open for business on May 1st, with May 15th as an alternative should delays occur.

Once opened, Hot Potatoes will maintain hours of 11 a.m. - 6 p.m. initially as they gauge demand. They are also considering staying open as last as 1 a.m. on the weekends.
