Hot Chicken Franchise Opening in Raleigh

RALEIGH, NC – Hangry Joe's Hot Chicken, a fast-casual Nashville hot chicken chain, is planning its first Raleigh location at 5011 Falls of Neuse Rd Suite E, Raleigh, NC 27609. Harsh Kandakur, who is opening the restaurant with his wife, Varsha Kandakur, told Business Debut the team has signed a lease and submitted building and health permits.

The restaurant is planned for a second-generation space that previously housed I Love Mac and Cheese, with the team aiming to reuse much of the existing kitchen layout and restrooms.

What to Expect

Kandakur said the Raleigh Hangry Joe’s space will be 2,100 square feet. He expects the dining room to host around 10 to 15 tables once the final layout is set.

Menu and Vision

Hangry Joe’s centers on made-to-order hot chicken with multiple spice levels, including an “Angry Hot” level that requires a signed waiver, according to the brand’s FAQ.

The chain’s core menu includes items such as a Chicken Sando, chicken fingers, wings, chicken and waffles, a chicken wrap, loaded fries, chicken salad, and loaded mac and cheese.

Opening Timeline

Kandakur told Business Debut the team is waiting on permitting before construction begins, with health permitting estimated around eight weeks and building permits expected in roughly four to six weeks.

Once work begins, he said the build-out should be more straightforward because the space is already set up for a restaurant.
