ATLANTA, GA — Business Debut spoke with Omar Lugo, owner and creator of Habaneros, who confirmed that the restaurant will open its first Atlanta location at 1000 Spring Street Northwest, STE 250, Atlanta, GA 30309 in early December. The restaurant will join the Spring Quarter development and mark the brand’s debut in Georgia.

What to Expect

Habaneros will feature a full-service restaurant and bar with seating for about 140 guests, including an open-air patio that connects to the main dining area. The design will incorporate natural materials and textural details inspired by Mexico’s ancient architecture, creating an atmosphere meant to transport guests to the country’s cultural roots.

The bar program will highlight cocktails that extend beyond traditional Mexican spirits. Lugo said the team is introducing modern techniques and a variety of liquors to build a cocktail list that complements the menu’s depth and regional diversity.

Lugo described Habaneros as a blend of Mexico’s traditional cuisine and its vibrant street food culture. “We focus on blending the different flavors of Mexico’s urban street food with traditional techniques,” he told Business Debut. “Our menu touches all of Mexico—from the streets of Mexico City to the coasts of the Yucatán.”

Guests can expect dishes such as mole, tacos, and fresh ceviche, with recipes influenced by regions across the country. The concept aims to maintain the authentic flavors and techniques of Mexican cooking while modernizing presentation and dining experience.

The Habs Group

Habaneros operates under Lugo’s restaurant collective, Habs Group, which currently manages four distinct brands across multiple markets. In addition to Habaneros, the group owns Social, a Peruvian restaurant, Whiskey Kitchen, an American concept inspired by Nashville cuisine, and AWIS Taqueria, a fast-casual taqueria modeled after the taco shops of Mexico City.

Lugo said the opening of Habaneros in Atlanta is the first step in a broader plan to grow the Habs Group presence in Georgia. “This is what I call the Atlanta Project,” he told Business Debut. “It’s not just one restaurant—we’re bringing several of our brands here.” Plans include future openings for Social and AWIS Taqueria in the Atlanta area, continuing the group’s expansion beyond its Louisiana roots.

Habaneros is targeting an opening during the first week of December.
