MARY ESTHER, FL - Gyros Leo Cafe is targeting a late March opening at 144 Mary Esther Blvd Unit 17, Mary Esther, FL 32569. Owner Kaan Oz told Business Debut the cafe is aiming to open as soon as March 25, pending final health department and fire inspections, with a grand opening and ribbon cutting potentially moving to March 28.

What to Expect

The cafe is planned as a small full-service breakfast and lunch restaurant with seating for about 20 guests. Oz said the business is designed to serve both dine-in customers and the daily breakfast and lunch crowd in Mary Esther.

The concept is rooted in family history. Oz said his family spent more than a decade in the restaurant business and previously operated five Turkish restaurants in New Jersey before relocating to Florida. The family also owns Ali Baba in Fort Walton Beach and took over Mother Earth Cafe, where Oz said they continued building their experience in breakfast and lunch service.

The new cafe is named after Oz’s newborn brother, Leo. Oz told Business Debut the project is part of the family’s plan for the future and reflects their restaurant background and their desire to build something new in this market.

Gyros Leo Cafe will serve breakfast and lunch throughout the day. Oz said breakfast offerings are expected to include omelets, eggs and bacon, housemade home fries, pancakes, French toast, waffles, and sweet waffle options topped with items such as Nutella, fruit, and whipped cream.

Lunch will include burgers, vegetarian burgers, sandwiches, and a gyro burger. Oz said standout items to watch for include the Leo Meat Breakfast, which he described as a gyro omelet, along with the Gyros Leo Burger and homemade baklava.

Oz also said his father, Mehmet Oz, is central to the project and has been deeply involved in the vision for the cafe. He said his stepmother, Elif Oz, will play a major role as the baker, preparing cakes and cheesecakes for the menu.

Opening Timeline

The team is targeting March 25 for an initial opening, though that date remains dependent on inspections. Oz said March 28 is also being considered for the official grand opening and ribbon cutting so the business can first operate for a few days and work through any early adjustments.

Hours

Oz said the cafe plans to operate from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and will be closed on Sundays.
