MOULTRIE, GA – Green Tomato Buffet is bringing its homestyle Southern cooking to 629 Veterans Pkwy, Moultrie, GA 31768. The opening date will be around September 10–12, owner Geng Lin told Business Debut.

The new restaurant, located in the Walmart shopping center, has completed inspections and is now in the hiring phase. “Once we have enough people in our team and we get them trained, we’re expecting to open in September,” Lin said. They’ll be hiring cashiers, servers, cooks, dishwashers, and more.

The restaurant will operate as a full-service buffet. Servers provide table service after seating, bringing drinks and guiding guests to the buffet options. The Moultrie location will seat about 160 guests inside across its 5,000-square-foot space.

Operating hours will be Monday through Sunday, 11 a.m. – 9 p.m.

Southern Buffet Concept

Green Tomato Buffet is known for its made-from-scratch, home-style dishes. The menu includes classics like fried chicken, macaroni and cheese, collard greens, ribs, country-fried steak, fried catfish, wings, their specialty fried green tomatoes, and more. Guests can also enjoy a full salad bar, fresh fruit, and an extensive dessert spread featuring homemade cakes, pies, cookies, banana pudding, bread pudding, pecan pie, cream pie, and cinnamon rolls.

Unlike many buffets, all items are prepared in-house daily, with no canned or frozen shortcuts. “Everything is made in-house, all fresh. No cans or frozen,” Lin emphasized.

Since it's a buffet restaurant, guests pay $14 per person upon entry on Monday through Thursday, and $15 on Friday through Sunday, as they do more specialty items like fried whole catfish, meatloaf, ribs, with drinks and tax included. Seniors receive a 10% discount, bringing weekday prices under $13 and weekend prices under $14.

A Growing Family Restaurant

Lin has decades of restaurant industry expertise, growing up working in his family's Chinese restaurant in Dublin, Georgia. He attended Georgia State University to study business administration before earning his degree from Le Cordon Bleu's culinary school in 2005.

Green Tomato Buffet already operates in Rome, GA, and is expanding with locations under construction in Milledgeville and Hiram. Lin and his brother, Huang Lin, who handles renovations and inspections, also own the sister concept Old Tyme Grill and Buffet and Grill in Jonesboro, GA, and the growing Kickoff Wing & Deli brand. They’ll also have expansion plans in Calhoun and Covington, and are looking for more locations.
