ORANGE PARK, FL — Gochas Latin Food is preparing to open at 930 Blanding Blvd., Suite D & E, Orange Park, FL 32065, with a target opening in early May, owner Katzumi Yonekura told Business Debut.

The restaurant is owned by Katzumi Yonekura and Juan Yonekura and builds on the success of their existing food truck, Gochas Empanadas, which has developed a following in Jacksonville.

What to Expect

Gochas Latin Food will offer a fast-casual, 16-seat space focused on authentic Venezuelan cuisine made from scratch. The concept is designed to feel welcoming and home-like, with an emphasis on quality and community.

“Our goal… is to create a space where everyone feels welcome,” Yonekura told Business Debut. “Not just the Hispanic community but anyone who wants to experience something new and different.”

The restaurant will operate alongside the food truck, which will remain open to serve its existing customer base.

The menu centers on traditional Venezuelan dishes, with empanadas as the top seller, including the pabellón filled with shredded beef, cheese, fried sweet plantains, and black beans.

“If I need to recommend something it would be our empanadas,” Yonekura told Business Debut, noting they are the most popular item among returning customers.

Other highlights include cachapas made from scratch using fresh corn, along with fresh juices and breakfast offerings starting early in the day.

The kitchen is led by Yonekura’s mother-in-law, Sonia Barajas, whose recipes form the foundation of the menu.

“She’s really the heart of the business,” Yonekura told Business Debut. “Everything that we offer has that homemade traditional feel.”

Yonekura’s sister-in-law, Najiomy Yonekura, will serve as restaurant manager, handling day-to-day operations.

Opening Timeline

The team is targeting an opening in early May, with construction currently in its final stages.

Hours

Hours are still being finalized, but the team is planning for a schedule around 7 a.m. – 6 p.m., with the restaurant closed on Wednesdays.
