WESLEY CHAPEL, FL — Bonchon is planning a new full-service Korean fried chicken restaurant in Wesley Chapel, targeting an April–May opening timeframe. Sherry Askander told Business Debut the restaurant will be located at 27093 Halter Loop, Wesley Chapel, FL 33544, marking the brand’s second location in the Tampa Bay area.

Askander said the Wesley Chapel restaurant will differ from the brand’s first local location, which operates in a fast-casual format. This new restaurant is being developed as a full-service concept with table service and an expanded dine-in experience.

What to Expect

The Wesley Chapel Bonchon will feature a dining room with approximately 70 seats, along with an outdoor patio. Guests can expect an upscale-casual environment designed to be welcoming and accessible rather than fine dining.

“We want to offer a full-service experience that’s inviting to everyone,” Askander told Business Debut. “It’s still casual, but it allows guests to really sit down and enjoy the food.”

The restaurant will also serve alcohol, including beer, sake, and Korean soju.

Bonchon’s menu centers on Korean fried chicken that is double-fried, hand-battered, and finished with the brand’s signature sauces. Popular flavors include soy garlic and yangnyeom, a sweet-and-spicy sauce known for its bold profile.

Beyond chicken, the menu includes a wide range of Korean-inspired and Asian fusion dishes such as bulgogi, bulgogi fries, tteokbokki, fried rice, and Korean-style marinated steak made with selected cuts. Askander said the brand’s cooking process prioritizes quality and consistency.

“There are no shortcuts,” she told Business Debut. “It’s a long process, but it’s what gives the chicken its texture and flavor, and that’s something we take a lot of pride in.”

Ownership

Askander owns 60% of the business, with Essam Takla serving as a partner. She said the Wesley Chapel restaurant is designed as an upscale casual environment, offering full service dining while remaining approachable and welcoming.

Opening Timeline

The team is targeting an April–May opening, pending final permitting and construction approvals.

Hours

The restaurant plans to open at 11 a.m. seven days a week. Closing times are expected to range from 10 p.m. on weekdays to 11 p.m. on weekends.
