CLAYTON, GA — Frida’s Taqueria & Cantina is targeting a mid-February opening at 77 W Savannah St, Clayton, GA 30525, owner Julian Hurtado told Business Debut. Hurtado said the team is aiming for roughly Feb. 10-14, likely after Valentine’s Day, with an exact opening date to be announced.

What to Expect

Hurtado described Frida’s as a full-service restaurant with colorful, festive decor and rooted in Mexican culture. The space is about 4,400 square feet with an estimated 117 seats.

The restaurant is being built for a lively dining experience, with an open kitchen and planned tableside elements like guacamole prepared in front of guests.

Chef Alberto Rodriguez said the kitchen is focused on an “artisan side of cuisine” with an emphasis on scratch cooking and freshness. “We would never buy a case of tomatoes in a can,” Rodriguez told Business Debut. "We order them fresh." The team plans to make tortillas in-house.

Rodriguez said the team wants to be known for tacos and signature drinks, alongside dishes that "honor authentic Mexican cuisine,” including cochinita pibil, carne asada and carnitas. He also said the menu will include a few “crazy dishes,” including hush puppies made with masa harina.

Opening Timeline

Hurtado said the team is working through setup now and expects to open in about three weeks, targeting mid-February.

Frida’s is Hurtado’s first restaurant, and he said the project is a partnership with the team behind Hush Cuban.

Hours

Frida’s plans to offer lunch and dinner service six days a week and be closed on Tuesdays. Specific daily hours are to be announced.
