Fast-Casual Latin Cuisine Arriving In Ocala

OCALA, FLORIDA — Tacos Y Mas, a fast-casual Latin restaurant, is planning a Jan. 1 opening at 3100 SW College Road Unit 3094, Ocala, FL 34474, owner Kevin Hudson told Business Debut. Hudson said the new spot will be connected to the former Sears space at Paddock Mall, which has been converted into a multi-unit destination with restaurants and bars.

What to Expect

Hudson described Tacos Y Mas as a fast-casual concept, with counter ordering for most guests. The restaurant is designed to seat about 130 people, with a bar area that offers full table service.

The menu will focus on Latin fare, with a mix of Mexican, Cuban and Puerto Rican influences. Hudson said the restaurant will serve authentic tacos, along with recipes that reflect his background across those cuisines.

One signature item is a three-pound burrito, which Hudson said has been a draw for customers.

Background

Hudson told Business Debut that Tacos Y Mas is not his first restaurant venture. He said he currently owns and operates multiple food concepts, including sandwich shops and other casual dining businesses, and has spent years working across different restaurant models.

Hudson said Tacos Y Mas already operates additional locations, and the Ocala restaurant represents an expansion of the brand rather than a first launch. He said the concept has been refined over time, with a focus on large portions, late-night service and a menu influenced by Mexican, Cuban and Puerto Rican cuisines.

Hudson said that experience operating multiple restaurants helped shape decisions for the Ocala location, including staffing, layout and extended weekend hours.

Hudson said the restaurant plans to operate Sunday through Wednesday from 11 a.m. — 9:30 p.m. On Thursday, Friday and Saturday, the restaurant plans to open at 11 a.m. and close at 2 a.m.
