A family-run restaurant brand with roots going back nearly 50 years is returning to Sharpsburg, owner Adam Tsirnikas shared with Business Debut. The new location will open this July at 3500 GA-34, Sharpsburg, GA 30277—the same building where Milano’s opened in 1998. Business Debut came across the news first from The City Menus.

The restaurant will feature approximately 60 seats and will offer the wide-ranging menu Milano’s is known for, including pizzas, pastas, salads, calzones, wings, gyros, burgers, and steak. Tsirnikas, who is Greek, described the menu as “80% Italian and 20% everything else.”

The Milano’s brand was originally founded in 1976 by John Couscos, Tsirnikas’ father-in-law, in Athens, Tennessee. Over the years, the brand has expanded across Georgia and Alabama. Tsirnikas currently owns and operates the LaGrange, GA location and the Valley, AL unit, which he acquired from Couscos a few years ago.

Tsirnikas’ restaurant experience began early—his first job was working at his uncle’s burger restaurants in New York at the age of 14.

By 19, he had opened his first restaurant, Castello’s, in Phenix City, AL. After opening and selling several restaurants, Tsirnikas launched Milano’s in LaGrange in 2010.

When John Couscos' former business partner Jimmy Swaringa spotted that the original Sharpsburg space was available again, he alerted Tsirnikas, who quickly moved to return Milano’s to the area. Swaringa will be attending the grand opening this summer to welcome guests back to Milano's.

The family legacy continues with Tsirnikas’ son, Steve, who is currently overseeing the LaGrange and Valley locations and will eventually take over the brand’s operations, Adam Tsirnikas said.

Steve will be the third generation of the family to run Milano's.

The new Sharpsburg location will be open seven days a week: Monday through Saturday from 11 am – 10 pm, and Sunday from 12 pm – 9 pm.
