CORAL SPRINGS, FL — Long Island Bagel Cafe is planning to open in May 2026 at 6240 Coral Ridge Dr, Coral Springs, FL 33076, owner Randy Narod told Business Debut.

The restaurant is taking over the former Hurricane Wings & Grill location, which Narod said has been in the community for about 20 years, and the space will be fully rebuilt “from scratch.”

What to Expect

Long Island Bagel Cafe, also known as LIBC, describes itself as more than a traditional bagel shop, with a wide range of house-made smears, salads and specialty sandwiches. Narod said the Coral Springs location will include a chopped salad bar, bakery items and catering, with everything prepared in-house daily.

The fast-casual setup is designed for quick ordering and flexible dine-in, with both indoor and outdoor seating. Narod said guests can expect about 100 seats.

Narod said the brand focuses on hand-rolled bagels, a process he believes makes the difference in achieving a crisp exterior with a chewy inside. He also said the team invested in a water filtration system to help replicate the taste customers associate with New York. But, the real secret is in the way they hand-roll their bagels.

For first-time guests, Narod said the salads are a strong place to start, pointing to the tuna salad as a longtime standout. “That tuna recipe has been with us for years, and people come back for it again and again,” he told Business Debut.

He also highlighted the cranberry chicken salad, Asian chicken salad and an egg salad with mushroom, noting that each is made fresh in-house and reflects the brand’s Long Island roots and emphasis on comfort-driven favorites done right.

On the sandwich side, he pointed to the Roast Beef Royale (roast beef and melted mozzarella on garlic bread) and the Big Bird (chicken cutlet, bacon and American cheese). In the bakery case, Narod said he likes the black-and-white cookies and chocolate cigars, and his go-to bagel is an everything bagel, and mentioned their French toast bagel as a fan favorite.

Ownership and Brand History

Long Island Bagel Cafe was founded by Randy Narod and his brother-in-law, Joseph Anzalone. The brand’s roots trace back to 1986, when the pair were involved with their first bagel shop on Long Island, long before the Long Island Bagel Cafe name was introduced. Narod said the business later evolved into Long Island Bagel Cafe as they began opening additional locations and refining the concept.

Narod said the idea to go into business together came after watching Anzalone run another bagel shop. “Joe was basically running the entire store like it was his own,” Narod told Business Debut. “He handled the payroll, ordered the food, worked in the kitchen and made sure everything was done right.” After realizing how much responsibility Anzalone carried, Narod said the two decided to open their own store together, forming what would become Long Island Bagel Cafe.

Today, Narod and Anzalone continue to operate the business as a family-run partnership. “He’s not just my business partner, he’s family,” Narod told Business Debut, adding that their shared history and trust remain central to how the brand operates and grows.

Long Island Bagel Cafe operates a mix of corporate and franchise locations. Narod said the brand currently has 12 locations in total, with most owned and operated corporately by him and his brother in law, Joseph Anzalone. Two locations operate as franchises, and Narod said the company plans to continue opening corporate stores in South Florida while exploring franchise opportunities in other parts of the state moving forward.

Opening Timeline

Narod said the team is targeting May 2026. The Coral Springs space is currently in the permitting stage, with plans to begin renovations after approvals.

Hours

The Coral Springs location is planned to be open seven days a week from 6 a.m.–5 p.m. Narod said the brand operates 365 days a year, including holidays.
