HAINES CITY, FL — Mi Tierra Restaurant is targeting a early May to mid-May opening at 8 North 4th Street, Haines City, FL 33844, pending final city inspections, owner Rene Perez told Business Debut. The restaurant is owned and operated by Perez and his wife, Brenda Reyes, who also serves as the chef.

What to Expect

Mi Tierra Restaurant will bring a full-service dining experience with a mix of quick breakfast and lunch options alongside a traditional sit-down menu. Guests can expect a 1,500-square-foot space with seating for about 40.

The concept centers on authentic, homemade Dominican food, something Perez said the area has not yet experienced. “We try to bring something new to the community that has not been yet around,” he told Business Debut.

The restaurant also plans to offer online ordering through its website, with integration for delivery platforms.

The menu will feature traditional Dominican dishes including stewed chicken with rice and beans and sweet plantains, roasted pork, rice with peas, and a range of meats such as beef, oxtail, and goat, along with seafood.

Perez highlighted oxtail as a standout item. “Oxtail is one of my favorite meats… a lot of people like it spicy and we hope our mix of natural ingredients will be something they look for,” he told Business Debut.

Additional offerings will include mofongo with garlic sauce and chicharrón, Dominican-style burgers known as chimi, and breakfast items like mangú with eggs, salami, and cheese. The restaurant will also offer beer and wine once licensing is approved.

Perez emphasized the family-driven nature of the business and its purpose in the community. “This is something that my wife and I love to do together… to show what the Dominican culture is when it comes to working together as a family restaurant,” he told Business Debut.

He also spoke about faith as a foundation of the business. “Our main person that made everything possible is God… He’s the leader of this business in our house,” Perez told Business Debut.

“People are very excited to see something new in the community and we are as well… thank God for everything and the opportunity” Perez added.

Opening Timeline

The team is targeting an opening between early May and mid-May, pending inspections and final approvals from the city.

Hours

Mi Tierra Restaurant plans to operate Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. — 8 p.m., with extended hours until 10 p.m. on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. The restaurant will be closed on Sundays.

“We expect to have Sundays to dedicate our time to the Lord and to the family,” Perez told Business Debut.
