GREENSBORO, NC — Dear Dad’s Restaurant is preparing to open its second location downtown at 219-A South Elm Street, Greensboro, NC 27401. Haras Sajjad told Business Debut the team is waiting on two remaining permits and is targeting a mid-March opening, with end of March as the latest.

What to Expect

The new location will be about 1,850 square feet with seating for about 60 to 80 guests, Sajjad said. He described the dining room as “very airy, very tropical,” with flowers, updated decor and a few areas designed for photo opportunities.

Dear Dad’s is positioned as a family restaurant, and Sajjad said the concept is meant to feel like “you were visiting our house.” He also said the restaurant does not serve alcohol.

Need for Expansion

Both Sajjad and the brand's general manager, Ryan Settembre, expressed a need to open a second location due to long wait times at their original unit.

"We're expanded out of a need to, a lot of times the waits here are so busy and we've lost a lot of customers that want to dine with us, but just can't." Settembre said. "So we hope to service everyone who wants to eat at Dear Dad’s, not just the people who are willing to wait."

Sajjad said the downtown restaurant will serve the same menu as the original location. The restaurant’s menu spans breakfast, lunch and dinner, including pancakes and waffles, burritos and chilaquiles, burgers and sandwiches, salads, and Mexican-influenced plates. Sajjad said the team is taking growth “one step at a time,” with the second location driven by demand at the original restaurant.

Ownership

Dear Dad’s was founded by Sajjad’s father, Sage Sajjad, Haras told Business Debut. He said the restaurant is run as a family business with his brother, Mohammad Sajjad, and the team’s general manager, Ryan Settembre.

Opening Timeline

Sajjad told Business Debut the team hopes to receive final permits within about 10 to 14 days, followed by roughly two weeks of setup. The restaurant is targeting mid-March, with end of March as the latest.

Hours

According to the restaurant’s website, Dear Dad’s is open Monday through Sunday from 7 a.m.—9 p.m.
