Coming Soon: Salty Anchor Taphouse [Owner Interview]

PERRY, FL — Salty Anchor Taphouse, a new full-service taphouse and kitchen focused on craft beer, coffee and family-friendly events, is targeting an opening in early to mid September at 127 South Washington Street, Perry, FL 32347, co-owner Selina Grant told Business Debut.

Grant and her wife, Allison Grant, are opening the 3,100-square-foot space with a focus on community events and downtown activity. “This is my hometown and I want to be able to see it like it used to be when I was younger,” Grant said.

What to Expect

The taphouse will feature a self-serve tap wall with 21 lines powered by PourMyBeer technology, Grant said. The Grants are also installing up to 18 additional bartender-pour taps to expand rotation options.

The layout includes a stage for live music, trivia, karaoke and fundraisers. Grant said she is in talks with local groups, including the high school baseball program, about events such as hometown nights and other youth sports fundraisers.

A rear area called The Sandbar will offer pool tables, dart lanes, Golden Tee and other games. Grant described the concept as a family-friendly food and beverage space where guests can have a drink without a bar environment, she told Business Debut.

Menu and Vision

The kitchen will serve lunch and dinner six days a week, with Saturday brunch. The menu centers on Smashburgers and other burgers with toppings such as fried green tomatoes, taco-inspired burgers and other combinations Grant said are not common in Perry.

Protein bowls will allow guests to choose a base, vegetables and a protein, plus sauces. Taco-Tuesdays specials will include blackened mahi tacos and more.

Salty Anchor Taphouse will also offer a large appetizer section with pretzels, loaded nachos, jalapeno poppers and more.

Expect an extensive craft beer list, mimosa flights and wine- or beer-based cocktails. Grant cited examples such as an espresso martini, Bloody Mary and margarita built on wine or beer bases.

The Grants are also developing a coffee program and will offer coffee flights. Guests will be able to select four or five coffee flavors in a single order, Grant said.

The business plans to integrate with the Untappd app so guests can see what is on tap and rate beers. A dedicated Salty Anchor app is planned for a later phase.

Opening Timeline

Grant said Salty Anchor Taphouse is targeting early to mid September for its opening date. An exact opening day is to be announced.
