Carrburritos Plans Move to Carr Mill Mall in Carrboro
The new location will allow for more kitchen and guest space.
CARRBORO, NC — Carrburritos is planning a move to 200 N. Greensboro St., Carrboro, NC 27510 in Carr Mill Mall, with owner Rae Mosher targeting an opening by the end of summer, ideally before students return in mid-August.
Mosher told Business Debut the move will take the restaurant from its longtime home at 711 W. Rosemary St. to a larger space with more room for the kitchen, dining room and bar.
What to Expect
Carrburritos opened in 1997 and has operated from its same Carrboro location for 29 years, Mosher told Business Debut. She said the restaurant has reached the ceiling in its current space, especially as the team looks to expand its catering business.
The new Carr Mill Mall location will have an exterior-facing storefront, an interior entrance, a courtyard patio, 30-foot ceilings, brick walls and antique windows, Mosher told Business Debut. The new space will also have more dining room seating, easier parking and a full bar with seating for about 10 to 12 people.
Menu and Vision
Carrburritos will continue serving California-style fresh Mex with the same fast-casual format customers know, Mosher told Business Debut. Guests will order at the counter or bar, then have food brought to the table.
Mosher said the restaurant’s food is inspired by the taquerias her family knew in the Bay Area before moving to North Carolina in 1992.
“Every recipe is made every single day,” Mosher told Business Debut. “All six of our salsas are made every single day. The guacamole is made twice a day.”
The menu includes burritos, salsas, guacamole, meats cooked daily and vegetarian options, Mosher told Business Debut. She said the restaurant focuses on fresh preparation, with recipes made in-house daily.
Opening Timeline
Carrburritos is targeting the end of summer for its move, hopefully before students return in mid-August, Mosher told Business Debut. She said the timeline will depend on construction, permitting and equipment ordering.
Mosher said she hopes downtime between closing the Rosemary Street location and opening in Carr Mill Mall will be about a week, though it could be two or three weeks.
