Butter Knife Shawty Barbecue Coming to Conyers This September

CONYERS, GA – Butter Knife Shawty Barbecue is opening its first permanent location at 1801 Sigman Rd, Conyers, GA 30012. Owner Antonio Harris told Business Debut that they’ll open this September, hopefully on Labor Day weekend.

The restaurant will focus on takeout and delivery, with limited seating. It will offer a lunch-focused, grab-and-go concept, serving up Southern-style smoked meats to the Rockdale County community where Harris grew up.

The restaurant's opening hours are not yet confirmed and might be announced once the opening is near. Online ordering and delivery will also be available via Uber Eats and Grubhub. The core menu includes smoked wings (flash-fried after smoking for extra crispiness), ribs and rib sandwiches, pulled pork, and specials like smashburger tacos.

House-Made Sauces and Family Recipes

All sauces and rubs are house-made, based on family recipes passed down from Harris’s grandfather in South Georgia. The food reflects Harris’s style: bold, flavorful, and unfiltered Southern comfort.

Antonio Harris built his name through catering, pop-ups, and a strong following that regularly sold him out wherever he went. Originally from Decatur and raised in Rockdale County, Harris said opening in Conyers was always the goal. “I’ve popped up all over Georgia,” Harris said. “But every time I cooked in Conyers, I’d sell out. A bunch of people come from Conyers just to get my barbecue.”

The Brand's Origin

In 2018, Harris took his passion for BBQ from a backyard pastime to a full-fledged catering business, but he’s been barbecuing for the past twenty years. He gained a significant following in metro Atlanta over the years, particularly for popping up at private parties and breweries.
