Family-owned hot chicken concept Bold Birds Nashville Hot Chicken is expanding to Lakewood, with its second Florida location opening this October at 5635 San Jose Blvd. Lakewood, FL 32207. Owner Jerry Brown told Business Debut that the restaurant will offer the same bold, spice-forward menu found at their original Murray Hill location.

Hotter Than A Mother Clucker

Bold Birds is known for its Nashville-style hot chicken, which comes in different levels of spice, from mild to very hot, called "hotter than a mother clucker." Some of the most popular items are chicken tenders and a chicken sandwich, both of which come with a variety of homemade Southern sides, desserts, and special dipping sauces. The restaurant is 3,000 square feet and can seat about 95 people inside, plus there will be 20 more seats outside on the patio. Service will be fast-casual that you can enjoy right there, or order online or by phone.

"Our chicken tenders and our chicken sandwich are our two most popular items," said Brown. One of the standout features of Bold Bird's menu is its extensive lineup of freshly made sides and sauces. “We pride ourselves in being a scratch kitchen,” Brown shared. “We have a lot of interesting sides that are very compatible with fried chicken, especially southern dishes that we prepare fresh daily including dipping sauces for our chicken.” While beverages will include sodas, milkshakes, and a selection of beer, perfect pairings for the brand’s spicy offerings.

Hours of Operation

Bold Birds is open seven days a week at its Murray Hill location with opening hours starting at 11 am–8 pm Monday through Thursday, 11 am–9 pm Friday to Saturday, and 11 am–3 pm on Sunday. The exact hours at the new Lakewood location are still being finalized, with possible adjustments based on market conditions.

The Brand's Roots

Brown and his wife, Jeri Brown, run the family business together with their son, Hughes Brown, who manages the day-to-day operations. The family has been in the restaurant business for a long time and has run a well-known place called Watermark in The Gulch, Nashville, for more than 13 years. The Brown's moved to Florida to be closer to their grandchildren, and started the first Bold Birds restaurant in Murray Hill in 2020.
