Blue Crab Shack Expanding to Hallandale Beach Waterfront
Steamed seafood and Maryland-style crab cakes will anchor the new Hallandale Beach location, offering full service and waterfront views.
HALLANDALE BEACH, FL — Blue Crab Shack and Seafood will open its second location at 2602 E. Hallandale Beach Blvd., Hallandale Beach, FL 33009 with an official opening set for January 2, 2026, owner Barry Baker told Business Debut. A pre–grand opening is planned for November 22nd.
What to Expect
The new restaurant will introduce a full-service experience with indoor and outdoor waterfront seating, a full bar, and expanded menu offerings. The space seats about 123 guests and includes both standard tables and views along the intracoastal.
Baker said the original location is a takeout-only concept, but rapid growth pushed the brand to expand. The new dine-in space will allow for later operating hours, a larger menu, and an elevated atmosphere. Tables will have a 90-minute limit to help manage expected demand.
Menu and Vision
The menu will reflect Baker’s Maryland upbringing, with a focus on steamed seafood. “We steam all of our seafood in beer. We do not boil anything,” he told Business Debut. Offerings include snow crab legs, shrimp, and an expanded lineup made possible by the larger kitchen.

Baker highlighted the crab cakes as a personal favorite, describing them as Maryland-style lump crab cakes with minimal filler. The restaurant bakes and broils them to maintain moisture and flavor. The team will also introduce a late-night menu, supported by the new full bar and extended hours.
Background and Ownership
Baker, who previously worked in the trucking industry, launched Blue Crab Shack and Seafood using his life savings after moving to South Florida and discovering the lack of steamed crab options. What began as a weekend idea quickly grew into a full-scale business.
He credited the community for supporting the brand’s rapid rise and said the success of the first location pushed him to take on the restaurant full time. Baker’s wife, Carlene Milford, is also a key part of the business.

The restaurant will hold a pre–grand opening event on November 22nd, with the full opening scheduled for January 2, 2026.
