NEW PORT RICHEY, FL – Big Mommas Hickory Smoked BBQ is bringing its Southern-style smoked meats to 8530 Ridge Road, New Port Richey, FL 34654. The new location is expected to open in late October, according to Chef Ken Stephens, who spoke with Business Debut. This will be the second Big Mommas location, joining the original restaurant in Palm Harbor. Chef Ken also operates Hot Dogs Galore in South Tampa, and his portfolio of concepts across the Bay Area continues to grow.

A Taste of the South in New Port Richey
Big Mommas focuses on authentic hickory-smoked barbecue, serving up brisket, pork, chicken, sausage, and more, all prepared with care and time-intensive methods. Signature sides include scratch-made mac and cheese, green beans, and cornbread. “We pride ourselves on using the best quality ingredients and making everything from scratch,” Stephens said. Fan favorites include the Carolina Pork Sandwich topped with house-made barbecue sauce and coleslaw, as well as the “Mac Daddy” — a creamy five-cheese mac and cheese piled with chopped brisket or pork and drizzled with barbecue sauce.

Fast Casual Comfort
The New Port Richey restaurant will follow a fast-casual, counter-service format, where guests place their order at the counter and enjoy seating inside. The 1,400-square-foot space will accommodate about 35–40 guests, with an additional picnic table outside.

A Family and Faith-Based Business
Stephens, who has more than 37 years in the restaurant business, credits his grandmother’s cooking and Sunday family dinners as the inspiration behind his passion. “I just tell God, let me do the best I can with the talent you’ve given me, and everything else falls in place,” he said. The business remains a family affair, with his wife Christiane and children, Imaan (23) and Kenneth Jr. (21), all involved in operations.
