Big Fat Vegan Launching First Permanent Location in Atlanta
Plant-based sandwiches, tacos, burgers, and house-made vegan meats will anchor the menu at this new restaurant.
ATLANTA, GA – Big Fat Vegan, a vegan concept from mother-daughter team Tanetta Ellzey and Iyonna Poags, is set to open April 4 at 2110 Powers Ferry Rd Suite 120, Atlanta, GA 30339.
The upcoming opening marks the brand’s first permanent location after operating as a food truck and pop-up for the past two to three years, Ellzey told Business Debut.
What to Expect
The new space will offer dine-in service with seating inside and an outdoor patio. Ellzey said the cafe will have capacity for up to 54 guests.
Big Fat Vegan plans to serve customers Monday through Saturday. The restaurant is expected to focus on lunch and dinner service in its first brick-and-mortar location.
Menu and Vision
Guests can expect several of the dishes that helped build the brand’s following on the food truck, including a vegan Philly, jerk Philly, vegan steak Philly, jerk tacos, steak tacos, the Big Fat Vegan burger, and vegan buffalo cauliflower.
The team is also adding newer menu items such as chicken and waffles, jerk Rasta pasta, and an espresso cookie butter drink. Ellzey said much of the menu is built with mushrooms and house-made vegan meat alternatives created by the team rather than relying heavily on outside brands.
Ellzey said the business grew out of the family’s own experience with vegan eating. “We came up with some very good meals together,” Ellzey told Business Debut.
Opening Timeline
Big Fat Vegan is targeting an April 4 opening.
The restaurant follows a two- to three-year run as a part-time food truck and pop-up concept. Ellzey said the team is currently focused on making the first permanent location successful before looking at future growth.
“We would definitely like to expand,” Ellzey told Business Debut, adding that the brand has interest in other parts of metro Atlanta and potentially another state.
Hours
Planned hours are 10 a.m.—10 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
