STONE MOUNTAIN, GA — Bear and Honey Hive is targeting a Christmas opening at 5370 Stone Mountain Hwy 320, Stone Mountain, GA 30087.

Co-owners Valencia Nicholson and Angelia Hall told Business Debut they are creating a full-service restaurant and candle studio designed as a “total experience” for the community.

What to Expect

Bear and Honey Hive will be a full-service restaurant with waitstaff, a private dining room and a slate of experiences beyond the table. The roughly 2,500-square-foot space will seat about 60 guests, plus a private dining room for up to 12 that can host family gatherings, workshops and wine tastings. The owners also plan to feature a house DJ on weekends to add energy to the space.

Nicholson said the goal is for guests to have something to do as well as somewhere to dine, whether they are out with family, meeting friends or connecting with neighbors in Stone Mountain.

The kitchen will focus on Korean American and Caribbean comfort food. Plans include Korean dishes such as bulgogi and kalbi, Haitian-inspired Caribbean specials, avocado toast, hamburgers, chicken fingers, chicken wings and fries. The team aims to source ingredients from local farmers where possible and grow many of the herbs used in the kitchen.

The owners said they want the menu to be flavorful, soulful and comforting, with food that feels like it was made at home and prepared with care. Bear and Honey Hive is also a true family business.

Nicholson's and Hall’s daughters, Sierra Battle, 22, and Madison Hall, 19, will be integral to daily operations while they attend college. The owners said they hope to leave a legacy, teaching their daughters how to start and run a business and eventually giving them a blueprint they could grow into a larger concept or future franchise.

Candle Experience

Bear and Honey Hive began as an idea for a candle shop before evolving into the combined restaurant and candle concept. Guests will be able to book hands-on candle classes starting around $40, which include a custom 9-ounce candle. Participants will choose their fragrance, wax, wick and candle jar, with classes lasting about 30 to 45 minutes.

The owners emphasized that candles will be made with organic coconut, soy and beeswax, along with fragrance oils formulated without added chemicals. They want guests to feel confident burning the candles at home, knowing they are not breathing in harsh ingredients. Candle classes are not required to dine. Guests can simply come for food and drinks, but the owners expect many to stay, eat and enjoy the full experience while their candles cure.

Stone Mountain–Inspired Scents

Nicholson and Hall said they are proud to be part of the Stone Mountain community and inspired by “that big old rock you can see from almost anywhere in Atlanta” and the area’s growing diversity. To honor that connection, Bear and Honey Hive will roll out scents themed around Stone Mountain and their menu.

Planned fragrances include “Stone Mountain Sunset” as the first release, followed by a Korean pear and honey candle that nods to the restaurant’s Korean-Caribbean fusion. The team expects to introduce a new special fragrance about once a month, each one tied to Stone Mountain, the community or the concept.

Bear and Honey Hive is targeting a Christmas opening, pending final preparations and build-out.

The restaurant expects to open Tuesday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. from Tuesday through Thursday. On Friday, Saturday and Sunday, hours are expected to extend until midnight. The business will be closed on Mondays.
